On-Campus Employment I-9 Process


After You Have Been Hired (NEW Student Employees)

Complete all three steps below within three business days of your start date.

  • Once hired, log-in to Albert and select “Wasserman” under the “Other Resources” section. 
  • Fill out Initial Appointment Form B.
  • Please note: If you are filling out the Wasserman Form on Albert with Google Chrome and encounter an error when filling in the start date, please use a different browser to submit the form such as Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Thank you!

  • Undergraduate student employees must wait 3-5 business days to receive access to PeopleSync to complete the I-9 Form
  • Graduate students (excluding Law & Dental students) should have access to PeopleSync automatically. 
  • Log in to PeopleSync to complete your I-9, which will be available in your inbox or search “Complete Form I-9”.

  • Bring your required supporting documents to either the Union Square or Brooklyn Wasserman office.
  • Required Documents for I-9 Completion, documents must be UNEXPIRED ORIGINALS
    • For U.S. Citizens
      • Option 1: One document from List A (e.g., U.S. Passport)
      • Option 2: One document from List B (e.g., Driver’s License or State IDAND one document from List C (e.g., Social Security Card or Birth Certificate).
    • Permanent Residents
      • Option 1: Permanent Resident Card
      • Option 2: One document from List B (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) AND one document from List C (e.g., Social Security Card)
    • For International Students (F1 and J1)
      • Option 1: Foreign Passport + I-94 + I-20/DS-2019.
      • Option 2: Employment Authorization Card.

  • A Sprintax Calculus account will be prepared for you after the I-9 to complete your W-4 and other tax-related forms. For any questions regarding Sprintax Calculus or taxes, please contact nyu.sprintax@nyu.edu.

After You Have Been Hired (RETURNING Student Employees)

If you have ever worked on campus before and are returning to a previous role or starting a new position:

  • Log-in to Albert and select “Wasserman” under the “Other Resources” section. 
  • Fill out Reappointment Form A.
    • Please note: If you are filling out the Wasserman Form on Albert with Google Chrome and encounter an error when filling in the start date, please use a different browser to submit the form such as Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Thank you!
  • Your reappointment form will be electronically approved within three business days.
  • No visit required to the Wasserman Center or On-Campus Student Employment.

Note:

  • All graduate students must submit reappointment forms for each academic term as required by the Local 7902 – GSOC (Covered Graduate Student Employees).
  • Approval delays may occur during peak seasons (like the start of a semester).
  • For International Students: You must have a valid I-20 or DS-2019 or EA Card uploaded to PeopleSync for reappointment approval.
